DRAWINGS FROM THE MODERN ART PERIOD.
Modern Art is a term used to describe art produced roughly between 1860s - 1970s. Works from this period are typically associated with artistic expression, individual sensibility and experimentation. Artist's working during this time broke with previous traditions and styles, moving away from narrative and realistic representation toward abstraction, exploring new ways of seeing and questioning the materials and function of art.
This period encompassed many major art movements such as Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Symbolism, Cubism, Expressionism and Futurism and saw the beginnings of Surrealism, Dada, Abstract , Conceptual and Performance Art.
